Drive to Utah

We had quite the adventure as we headed back to Utah for Christmas Break. First off, we left the day after we went to Disneyland, and no that was not in the plans, but as we kept hearing the weather report it sounded like we had no choice but to leave ASAP.

So we stuffed everything we could think of into our suitcases on Saturday morning and then headed up to Utah. We got a pretty late start since were weren't planning on going, but thought we would still rather get on our way and arrive late at night than be stuck in a snowstorm. We hit patches of bad weather along the way, rain or the crazy dust storm in Las Vegas, but it was pretty smooth sailing until St. George.

Just past St. George we hit bumper to bumper traffic and sat in it for about an hour. We were escorted off the freeway, only to be told that I-15 was closed because two Semi's had jack-knifed and they had no idea when the freeway would be re-opened. So we turned around and got a hotel room for the night. We gave Jackson a bath and changed him into his PJ's, hung out in the room for a few hours and then heard the road was re-opened. We went back and forth and finally decided to jump back in the car and make the last of our trek. The hotel gave us our money back (all but the $30.00 cleaning fee). We just chalked it up to the most posh diaper change Jackson has ever had. :)

The storm was in full force as we started out drive again, but we found a plow to follow for awhile and then the storm cleared up as we got further north. It went relatively smoothly and were glad when we arrived 3:30 am. :)
