Sticker Chart
May 20, 2009

Well, around the time Bennett was born Jackson started REALLY acting out.  He is usually a pretty good kid, but he was becoming quite the terror and was spending the majority of his day in time out.  It was becoming SO frustrating to both of us!  I decided we needed to try something different and came up with the idea to do a Sticker Chart.

I started giving him stickers just for smiling/looking at me nicely, or when he seemed to be playing nicely etc.  I also typed out our morning and nightly routine so he would know what to expect.  It seemed to help that he just knew that wasn't anything to argue with me about, it was on the list and he just had to do it.  I also gave him a few simple jobs to do around the house. Yes, they caused me a little more work to take the time to explain to him what I wanted or to make sure he helped make his bed (instead of me just making the bed), but it gave him resposiblity over something I he really seems to like it.

He seems to be so much better behaved.  Often times he will start doing his jobs without me even asking, he just knows thats what come next.  I have seen such a difference in his behavior and it has been Wonderful!  ...Not to say that he is perfect, because he definitely still has him moments, but seriously it has been such a blessing to watch Jackson's cute little self come back and to realize he is still a good kid.
