Bennett's Preschool Field Trip to the Fire Station
February 1, 2012
This was such a fun field trip. The kids loved these firemen and loved everything about the fire station. We have done these tours in the past and the firemen that are in charge of the tour can really make or break the experience and these guys did AWESOME!
They had the kids attention from the moment we walked in the front door or the station. They were great at engaging the kids and letting them really have a hands on experience. Each child got a turn at spraying the fire hose, trying on the gear, letting the kids up into the fire truck, seeing them go down the fire pole, eating candy in their kitchen, and watching some t.v. on their recliners.
One of my favorite things they do on these tours is try on all their gear, mask and oxygen tank, so the kids can see what they look like and know that they are the "superheros" that are their to help them if they need help and not to run away from someone who is dressed like that (because when they have their full gear on they really do look and sound a little scary).
When we did one of these tours with Jackson a few years ago he started saying he wanted to be a fireman and has said that ever since. I think Bennett might now have similiar feelings.
(not sure why it won't upload, but here is the link to it on You Tube)

Love that Bennett! He's so cute. I love his big grin when he walks away from his turn.
