Memorial Day 2012
May 28, 2012

On Memorial Day we tried to check a few more things off our "Things to do before we leave L.A." list.  We decided to hike to the Hollywood sign.  It was an awesome hike and I wish we would have done it sooner, so we could have taken more of our visitors up there.  You can't hike right up to the sign, it is fenced off with warnings, everywhere, to not even think about going near it, but you hike right up behind it.  First I need to just give a virtual high five out to Bennett and Jackson who both hiked all the way to the top--by themselves!  I was so proud of them.  It was sweltering hot and a long hike, I think it was a 3 mile hike one way.  They did a great job!  Marc carried Bennett on his shoulders almost the way down, but Jackson finished the whole hike by himself.  During the hike you get beautiful views into both valleys.

After the hike we went down to the Veterans Cemetery in Westwood.  It was nice to talk to the kids about what Memorial Day is/means.  The kids actually seemed to really like it.

When we got home we were all so hot, we headed to the pool at our apartment complex.  By the time we got home we were all worn out, but poor Stella was the the most, we laid her on blanket and I was trying to prepare dinner, when I looked over and saw her passed out.  She had fallen asleep just laying on the floor, this NEVER happens.
