Moving Part #2
September 3, 2008

Driving out of town was bittersweet. Alpine has been such a great place to live and such a great place to raise Jackson thus far. It is hard to think of never living there again and knowing that I am growing up. I really didn't want to live in my parents basement forever, but it sure it hard to say goodbye to the familiar and the comfortable.

I know there are a lot of great places out there and I know that LA will become home to us too, but right now it feels so foreign. It's the unknown, the "I have no idea where to find a Target or Wal-mart" or the "I would know right where to go in the the grocery store to quickly grab a box of cereal"...things that you learn as you are in a place and things that become more comfortable and easy with time. And well, we have time, 4 years to learn all of that, right?! :)

It was hard to say goodbye to everyone, but we really are excited for LA...right?! :)

Anyway, we left as early as we could get ourselves out the door and headed to California. We need to thank a few people who gave us going away gifts for Jackson, because seriously...they saved the day on several occasion. So thank you, thank you!

Here is Jackson enjoying his "punch, punch" as he fondly calls it, from Audrey. Thank you Audrey! It is a little Transformer that can punch his hands and has a sucker coming out of his head. It was too great! Oh, and thanks for the refill suckers Amy. :)

He was probably a little on candy overload here...but enjoy the video...

Jackson got to ride with Grandma and Grandpa in the Truck for a little while. Which he absolutely loved. It was so cute to hear all about his riding in the truck experience and anytime we stopped after that he would ask if he could ride in the Truck again.

We of course stopped at In-n-out in Las Vegas and enjoyed ourselves a hamburger and milkshakes.

This is what I got to look at all day....

And then we slept in Hemet that night, because we couldn't check in until the next morning. It was fun to see my Grandma and Grandpa and I think the enjoyed seeing Jackson a little more grown up than the last time they saw him. It is going to be fun to be a little closer to the family in Hemet.

I think the familiarity of an area is the hardest thing to move away from. I still struggle with finding my way here, knowing exactly where every grocery store is. Our Walmart is 25 miles away and Target is about the same. It's just hard to become accustomed. The scariest part for me was "What if I get lost?" Yikes. I'm with you there.
